Ray Flash
“The Ray Light worked amazing as a foreground fill on the model, balanced with natural day light.”

"I would like to give you some feedback on my most recent Ray Flash experience.  I just did my first photo shoot with it in my studio. Honestly, am not sure why, I had this preconceived notion that I was only going to get a mild ring flash effect and a very limited range. This was clearly not what happened...  The shots looked so good that I caught myself shooting too fast for the flash to keep up. I quickly attached my CP-E2 battery pack to the flash and kept shooting.  All I kept saying was, gorgeous, beautiful, outstanding, I love that, wow, etc...  Not just because the model was doing such a great job, but at how I loved the results that I was getting. I decided to do a quick switch over back to the regular studio lighting without the Ray Flash. They somehow looked boring in comparison; so I switched back and finished shooting that outfit with the Ray Flash set-up...  I always like to give feedback from my websites back to where the credit is due. The model did a fantastic job and so did my new Ray Flash. I am very happy with the results. I particularly love how quickly I could pop on the Ray Flash for some quick shots.  Attached is one of the photos that I took for this session... I just posted the photo at a couple of my websites last night. It is UNBELIEVABLE just how many compliments I have already received for just this one shot!!!  Many are saying that it is such a great photo, and that the model looks so gorgeous and beautiful.  Thank you so much for making such a great product that is so simply usable for me. I can't wait to use it again for my next photo shoot."

"I really love this flash adapter! I used it the other night and my customer was very happy with the results. Thank you so much.  I've attached a photo that I took using the adapter. It's cross processed but as expected, he's right up against a wall and there's barely a shadow. I love that."

"Here are some recent wedding images where I used the Ray Ring Flash. The close ups are my favorite because it eliminated shadows from the chin on the neck and eliminated the shadow of the brides face against the grooms face. The photo of the bride in front of the window was also aided by the ring flash allowing the light to even out the more intense light coming in from the window. I am finding new ways to incorporate the Ray Gun Ring Flash during the formal sessions of my wedding shoots."

"I have actually been meaning to email you about how everything worked out in Cannes with the ray flash but you beat me to it. It's pretty great... The quality of the light is much better than any other on camera flash system I have used and not having to have a bracket and TTL cable is nice too. It caused quite a stir among both photographers and subjects every time I showed up at an event or red carpet with other people shooting. I probably gave your info out to about 20 photographers from both Europe and the US, who were interested in it. It got the attention of quite a few celebs too. From their perspective looking at a sea of flashes, the ring really stands out and gets their attention which is half the battle anyway when you are going for eye contact. Seinfeld was really taken by it and pointed it out to his wife and then made her pose just for me. Jason Lewis (Smith in Sex in the City) had a similar reaction. He thanked me since he knew the light would make him look good. The shots of Faye Dunaway, Goldie Hawn and Petra Nemcova are while they are asking me about the flash."

"My Ray Flash simply out performs all my expectation.  I shoot weddings and as part of our package we offer a bridal gown shoot.  I used the Ray Flash right after it arrived and was very pleased with the light it threw.  It is worth twice the price.  Attached are some images from my first shoot with the Ray Flash, Canon 5D & 580EXII Speedlights used for fill light outdoors."

"Performance has been excellent with a very pleasant diffused effect on close up pictures of groups where with the flash only I would have likely seen flash overexposure - particularly with the 580EX.  All I can say is that overall it is an excellent and very useful addition to my photography kit."

"The Ray Flash takes great photos.  I use it on my Nikon D300 with an SB-800 and I am very happy with the setup.  Sometimes I miss the Auto focus illuminator and wonder how the Ray Flash could be designed to allow it to operate... Either way its a great product. Thanks for selling it."

"I am very pleased with the Ray ring light converter. I used it last month 90% of the time for a wedding.  I also used it for taking pictures in my studio without any other light. It gives the halo producing dimensionality to the portrait.  My customers love it."

"My daughter and I are professional wedding photographers who just received the Ray Flash.  Wow, I can't believe how great the new Ray Flash works with my Nikon D300 and SB800 flash -- really allows you to get that high-end fashion ring flash look.  And it is soooooo easy to use -- just attach to your flash and you are ready to go.  It really couldn't be easier -- I kept expecting complications, but there absolutely weren't any.  Really loving that shadowless look you can only get with a ring flash.  For weddings or portraits with a different look, you really can't beat the Ray Flash."

"I am a pro photographer who is always looking for the newest tech device on the market - all in an effort to "make it my own"! In my quest for a versatile ring light, I could not find anything that would accommodate my love for the ring light look and that would be conducive for using at weddings. On my forum - www.thephotographerswatercooler.com - one of our wonderful members turned us onto the RayFlash. Right away, I knew this was a great possibility. Already, another local photographer and friend purchased one but had not put it into action, so I knew I had to get my hands on one right away! I opened it on a Friday and used it at my Saturday wedding. The results were what I expected and more! A great light adapter for close-up portrait and detail shots. I intend on exploring many other possibilities that this creative adapter may be able to produce. The bride and groom have already seen sneak peeks and are in love with their images. Likewise, other photographers on my forum are ready to jump on board after seeing the images that I created with the RayFlash. Compatible with varying lenses, easy to use, easy to remove with a durable feel and construction. An amazing tool in an ever evolving industry!"

"I'm a 65 year old photographer that has just gone digital from many years of using medium format with prime focal length lenses.  In my previous life I always used a tripod, mirror lockup, a good incident light meter and set my lens to the hyperfocal distance to maintain quality.  In changing to digital (because of declining film availability) I want to use the same methods for the same reasons.  The fly in the ointment was I now use zoom lenses and lost the ability to set hyperfocal distance.  When I discovered your wonderful tool the sun came back out in my world.  People who always used zooms and accepted whatever D.O.F. they got may not fully understand what you have created but I certainly do. I hope my comments are welcome."

"As a tool for the teaching or learning of photography, the... Guide is peerless in assisting understanding of one of the most important and least understood areas in photography - depth of field. Because of the simplicity and clarity of its design, and its orientation, it is the best graphic aid in teaching depth of field that I have ever seen.

I have now taught several dozen beginning photographers from San Francisco State University the principles and application of depth of field and never in my teaching career have I found students to so quickly and profoundly understand the concepts and their application.

I have decided to totally delete the conventional depth-of-field tables from my textbook, and offer the... Guide as their sole and exclusive replacement."

"...the pics are following a pre/custom-WB set using the ExpoDisc directed from the microphone stand in front of Guitar Shorty back to my table approximately 5-10 feet away.  I have emailed some pics to friends who are amazed at the colors I achieved. I then emailed back about your fine product and suggested they visit your website as well as suggested that all great photogs use EXPODISC including moi (LOL).  Thanks so much for taking the time with me, you epitomize what "Technical Support" should be on the finest level."

"I can't describe the ExpoDisc as anything short of AMAZING. I was used to using the auto WB feature on the D80 and D300 - and auto WB looked 'pretty good'. What did I know?  First time I tried the ExpoDisc I almost couldn't believe the difference - as an example, my daughter on her high chair. She was wearing a white onesie, sitting on the white chair, with a yellow background. Auto WB was 'OK' - same setup, after WB adjustements using ExpoDisc - as said, nothing short of amazing. The washed out white-ish on the chair, her clothes - even her face - came out alive - a true reflection of what the colors look like in the real world... I don't leave home without my ExpoDisc - I prefer to forget to carry anything else but the ExpoDisc."

"I'm amateur photographer, photography is just my hobby. Both ordered tools are really very useful (ExpoDisc Custom White Balance Filter and ExpoAperture2 Depth-of-Field Guide). ExpoDisc is fantastic tool! I never had seen so true colors until I start to use ExpoDisc. Mix lighting is no problem for this tool. Even in good predictable lighting use of ExpoDisc is preferred as well. I really recommend using of ExpoDisc for amateurs as well. It makes life easier.  You save a lot hours for adjusting of WB on your computer, than to make more and more pictures."

"I just purchased the ExpoDisc and began shooting with it right away.  I took some comparison pictures using auto white balance on my Nikon D300  and  the ExpoDisc.  I could tell an immediate difference even in the LCD screen on the camera.  It was much easier to spot the difference once I loaded the pictures onto my computer.  The pictures taken with the ExpoDisc showed true color and needed no post processing for white balance.  What a time saver!  I can now skip the white balance adjustment when processing the pictures I take."

"I've used the Expodisc White Balance filter frequently.  It is very handy.  I do landscapes mostly, and taking a custom white balance from a gray card can be very inconvenient.  I've been very satisfied with the results."

"I used the Expo Disc for the first time during a 3 week assignment in N. Europe involving many setups and I have to say that the Expo Disc works great...the images are neutral and right on...meaning a lot of time saved in post production. It just became a very natural part of the shoot process. So little helps so much."

"The ExpoDisc was one of the best investments in photography equipment I have ever made. I sell my own hand painted equine sculptures and one of the most difficult issues I was having was capturing the colors properly, especially reds, with my digital camera in an indoor studio setup. Even with manual white balance settings and a white card, it could never quite get the color right. Post editing with photo software was so time consuming and still the image color was suffering greatly. I also am the owner of a 500+ member horse figurine airbrush painting list known as "Airbrush Model Horses",  and have recommended the filter to everyone on the list, as we all paint and sell our work, mostly on the internet. Accurate image color is extremely important as a prospective customer has only the images to see, and not the actual figurine, prior to purchase. The pieces are fragile enough that outdoor photography is quite difficult and risky, so most of us shoot indoors. The model below is a perfect example. Although it is not one that was hand painted, the color is one that can be difficult to photograph. The image on the left was with the filter and looks exactly like the actual horse and background. I sent the list members pictures of some of my horses with and without the filter. The difference is incredible. At the moment I'm using a Sony Mavica FD95 2.1MP and am just about to upgrade to a DSLR. I am really looking forward to the quality of images I will be getting with my new camera and ExpoDisc. Thank you so much for an excellent product,  prompt shipping and tasty packet of little green frogs!"

"After doing research on the Expodisc and hearing talk about it from other photographers, I decided to get the 62mm for my Nikon D70. It is AWESOME!!! I cannot believe the difference it has made in my photos. I have always been a stickler about getting just the right exposure on my pictures, and after spending hours using Photo Shop 7.0 editing ALL my pictures to tweak them, I think now I will be able to spend more time shooting and less editing! I was amazed at how easy it is to use and totally blown away by the differences that the camera's WB was metering and what the REAL reading should be. I think anyone that enjoys taking pictures as much as I do should INVEST their money into an ExpoDisc! You can't go wrong! Once you start using it you will never want to shoot using the camera's White Balance again! I now have much more confidence shooting Digital photos than ever before, since I was an "Old School" film photographer for years. Film photography gave a little more leeway when you did a shoot, not digital!! This has made a BIG DIFFERENCE in my photography! TWO THUMBS WAY UP FOR THE EXPODISC!!!!"

"ExposDisc is phenominal!  It's the best product I've ever used.  I'll never shoot without one again.  It gives me perfect color balance every time and saves lots of time and anxiety when retouching my shots...  I recently ruined a couple of shoots because of my white balance settings.  My lighting was fine but I just couldn't get my color corrected when I went to retouch in Photoshop.  I was wondering if it was my meter or my camera, I really didn't have a clue... it's [ExpoDisc] a great product, I'll never shoot without one again.... They cost about $100.00 but it's the best hundred bucks I've ever spent."

"I just had to send you some photos to tell you how wonderful the Expodisc has been for me.  I am a total amateur photographer and take photos mostly for my eBay store.  At a recent visit to a Ritz Camera store, one of the salesmen recommended your product.  I had told him that I take a lot of pictures of towels and have had a hard time getting true colors of them in my photos.  He told me that many professional photographers use the Expodisc and say good things about it.

Attached is a photo I took of a new product yesterday with the Expodisc.  When I downloaded the photo and saw it along with the some of my older photos – I was just floored!  The color was just so much truer and vivid in the photo with the Expodisc I just could not believe it.  I just had to send them to show you what a difference it made for me.

Thank you again for such an ingenious product.  I have no idea how it works – but by just clicking on my manual WB and shooting in automatic mode it is amazing.   I can say that the only bad thing is that my old photos now look so bad I will have to redo all of them with the Expodisc! "

"ExpoDisc take the guess work out of white balance, and its never failed me.  I really thought I would only use it for my portrait work with actors, but to my surprise I simply use it all the time.  With the mustang images my favorite time to shoot is sunset and ExpoDisc again comes through with the most beautiful tones.  Saves me time in front of the computer so I can do more of what I love...shooting!"

"I shoot Big East Men and Women's college basketball.  This season the Seton Hall Men began to play their home games at Prudential Center (The Rock) in Newark, New jersey.  I shot my first game at The Rock back in November.  The lighting at The Rock is very bright.  I just knew that the lighting had to be metal halide.  Yet I kept getting a yellowish gold color cast whether I used auto white balance or the daylight Kelvin setting on my cameras.  I had read in one of the photography magazines that the chief photographer for the San Francisco 49ers once corrected his white balance problems by pointing his camera, with an ExpoDisc mounted on the lens, directly at the stadium lights.   The very next day I went to B&H Photo and purchased a 77mm neutral ExpoDisc and a Whi-Bal (used to correct white balance in the post process) white balance filter.  The very next game at The Rock I pointed my camera with the ExpoDisc mounted lens at the dominant light and achieved a correct white balance setting.  The ExpoDisc is a great product.  When I am headed for a photoshoot, I don't leave home without it."

I have a Canon 30D and I had a hard time with the white balance in winter time.  I asked some experts, I searched on the internet and finally I tried the ExpoDisc. I must tell you that I wasn't sure of my success until my first picture.  Now the ExpoDisc is my best friend.  I am not afraid of white anymore. Thank you."

"I just got my first ExpoDisc and --WOW!!! Thanks so much for a great product; this is the best bang for the buck I've ever spent on photo gear...If you shoot fully manual but lack an ExpoDisc, you don't have complete control of your images...I find the ExpoDisc to be very useful for stitched panoramic images.  Shooting panos requires multiple images with similar exposures, meaning matching apertures, focal lengths, etc.  Unfortunately, panos often have different light sources, particularly if taken indoors where natural sunlight is mixed with flash and incandescent.  The ExpoDisc allows me to accurately adjust my white balance from frame to frame and eliminates disruptive color shifts."

"I just wanted to extend my thanks for your dedication to light and white balance.  I bought my ExpoDisc one month before I acquired the Extreme Home Make Over Edition Photo shoot in Manchester, NH a couple weeks ago.  I used it religiously throughout the job.  It saved me countless hours of editing as I had to plow through 4000+ photographs taken.  Keep up the great work."

"I have, within the last 2 weeks, purchased both the Expodisc and the Expoaperture Depth of Field Guide. I purchased the Expodisc at the Tamron photography seminar in Minnesota September 28 - 29, 2007. First let me say that the Expodisc is so amazing. I have been trying to photograph a friend's watercolor paintings and could not get the color to be exact, but with the Expodisc the color is absolutely spot on. I use the Nikon D80 and using the Expodisc couldn't be easier...You folks make great, fantastic products. I'm so glad I found you. Thanks."

"Had it five minutes and I am a believer!  I take up to 200 shots on a day-sail on the 1812 warship Brig Niagara.  Each needs some "work" on color balance.  I will save HOURS having good WB to start with!  I also enjoyed the video - I do similar training films for climbing aloft on the Niagara and I appreciate the style and content of that films.  Just enough "amateur/spontaneous" to make it believable.  Only thing left out was a disclaimer telling viewers the VIDEO was also shot with Expodisc white balance!!  We video people need WB, too!!!

And here is a shot I took on the US Brig Niagara Sunday…  No worry about skin tones.  You not only get correct color, but you get MORE color when you don’t have to mouse around to get it right.  And I DID take over 130 shots that day and my “clean-up” time was greatly reduced."

"I recently heard the interview that you did on the Studio Lighting.net, the 'Light Source' podcast about the ExpoDisc, and was intrigued.  I have to admit I was skeptical about why I would need your product, but the interview peaked my interest.  I went into my local photo shop, today, to take a look at the product, and to my surprise the guy next to me was asking about the ExpoDisc.  He already has one, and loves it, but wanted to buy another in a different size.  I decided to purchase a 77mm Neutral to use on a portrait session I had this evening.  WOW, what can I say... my images never looked so good.  I am officially impressed.  Thanks for a great product!"

"Thank you for making a wonderful product.  I recently took a photography class where  we were discussing the topic of white balance.  I had just received my ExpoDisc that day, and when I was finally able to try it out, the whole class was amazed.  The speed, accuracy, and overall ease of the ExpoDisc have since made over half of the participants in my class get one!  Needless to say, both my instructor and I now swear by the ExpoDisc.  I am now a faithful customer for life!  Keep up the PERFECT work of helping photographers everywhere capture their moments perfectly."

Thanks so much for sending me the ExpoDisc. Now that I’ve had a chance to use it, I wanted to let you know my opinion.  In a word: Wow. Such a simple concept, performed so elegantly. From now on I’ll be wearing an ExpoDisc around my neck whenever I’m in the field.

Most all of my images are created in the early morning, because I love that light. But I’ve had trouble capturing that light since I switched from Velvia to digital. You know the routine: trying Auto White Balance, guessing various Kelvin settings, and always, always manipulating the raw file after the fact.

I’m so glad those days are over. All I have to do now is set a custom WB with the ExpoDisc, and I’m set. I was amazed the first time I used it, what a difference it made. Finally, I was capturing the light the way I saw it!

I’ll definitely be telling my students about this.

"I asked for, and received your ExpoDisc as a Christmas present.  Just a couple of nights ago I had the first chance to try it out in some challenging lighting conditions.  Indoor shooting in a high school gym, with old, yellowing, incandescent lighting.  Your product worked WONDERS for my custom white blance.  Reviewing the 200 plus images I took, the neutrals are spot on, and the skintones are wonderful, with just the right balance of yellow and magenta.  No time wasted color correcting 200 images!  What a time saver!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"It's not often that I'm bowled over by using a new product, but having read rave reviews about your Expodisc white balance filter here in the UK, I was convinced I should try it. Although it's not an inexpensive accessory, I was expecting mixed results. On location, I have often to take photos for clients in very difficult lighting conditions, with mixed light sources usually being the norm. Traditional white / grey card methods I've always used with a shrug of the shoulders had me returning to my studio, and using photo imaging software to bring the colour balance over to where it should be. I've now shot with your filter on three indoor photo shoots, and every single shot I've taken has had a near perfect colour balance. Congratulations on one of the most innovative and inspiring products to have hit the photographic market in recent years! Lets have some more!"

"I learned about the ExpoDisc from a publication I recently bought called:Portrait Photographer’s Handbook by Bill Hurter.  It caught my attention right away when the author said it’s 'an accessory that digital pros swear by...' and they gave the website.  I went out and bought 2 discs and am thrilled with the results."

"I just purchased your ExpoDisc for my brand new Nikon D2X digital SLR.  I am very new to digital photography, but not to film as I have taken photo's for the past 30 years with medium format Mamiya and 35mm Nikon F100 cameras.  I was not as pleased at first with my camera as it does take some time to get the idea of digital photography.  My post production work was a bit high with some thoughts other pro's stated about digital photography as 'spending more time behind the Mac than taking pictures'.  Well....let me tell you!  I took my daughter out for dinner with obviously taking pictures of her in mind.  I pulled out the ExpoDisc and followed the easy to use instructions and shot the most impressive, full color and exposure perfect pictures without any help from polarized or other filters I used to use.  I didn't use my grey card nor my light meter and still it produced incredible color perfect shots.  I am very impressed indeed.  This is going to take time and stress off my wedding projects!  It has now become the most important photo tool I own.  Cheers and thanks for a product that WORKS!"

"I got the ExpoDisc a couple of days ago and tried it out immediately in the studio and outside.  I liked what it gave me.  BUT, last night was the big test.  I had a hockey game in a dimly lit arena with quartz vapour lights.  Horrible lights to shoot under.  I have never been happy with my white balance results in that arena.  Last night, before the game, I set the preset white balance on both my D2X and D2H using the ExpoDisc.  I was using a 70-200 2.8 on the X and a 35-70 2.8 on the H.  All I can say now is, I am doing cartwheels!  I am totally thrilled with this disc.  I no longer have to spend countless hours correcting the white balance.  Last night's game was full of good action, two overtime periods and a few fights.  I shot 249 images between the two bodies.  That would normally take me about 3 hours to correct all the images.  So this disc has already paid for itself by saving me all that time.  I thank you very much!"

"Hey folks, A shooter buddy told me about your product. I went down to Camera Arts here in Sacramento and bought one for my Nikon. The first job that I am using it on is a jewelry shoot for a Dog & Cat website! POW! Exact whites and colors with no messing around! I will tell all my colleagues. Want some gray cards?"

"Just wanted to let you know what a pleasure it is to use the Expodisc with the D200.  Got back a couple hours ago from shooting a quilt display and plugged the card into the computer. Was ready for a few hours of color corrections as the photos were shot under incandescent lighting.  I think we have a winner with the Expodisc and the D200. After viewing about 100 photos from the shoot today, not one of them needs any color corrections. Let me say that again, "NONE". The reds, blues, purples and whites right on."

"In the past, snowstorm conditions have proven to be a monster for digital capture white balance. Shooting RAW last winter, I found I had to fiddle with the white balance of every snow shot in post processing because the Auto setting leaped about like a ping pong ball, and neither 5300 nor 6000 degree Kelvin manual WB settings looked right. So I used the disc to set custom WB for each scene and my snow was neutral to within 2-3 points out of 255 across the three channels every time. In the week gone by since, I’ve been out on several walkabout shoots and made several hundred captures with my Olympus E-1 using the disc. Each time the light changes or I turn a corner from sun to shade, I snap a new white balance so the camera is ready if a subject turns up. Result? Prettiest color you ever saw."

"Your product is absolutely wonderful! Ever since I have purchased my 62mm ExpoDisc, I have been producing great images from the get-go. It is nice to be able to get everything right from the beginning. One thing I strive for when taking photographs, is that you should get everything right in the beginning in order to minimize or eliminate post-production. On top of that, I shoot panoramic photos and stitch them together. When doing this with the photo perfect white balance and proper exposure, it makes it much easier to get a perfect stitch on the first time without editing. This product has made my life easier. Thank you so very much!"

"I embarked on a project to archive several bound volumes of newspapers dating from the 1920s. The volumes had to remain bound for fear of damage. I was forced to photograph each page indoors with light from two fluorescent lamps on the ceiling, an open window and some stray light from an incandescent bulb. The digital white balance filter I had ordered from England arrived today and it turned a WB adustment nightmare into a fairly routine shoot, with yellow pages retaining their original tones."

"Today's digital cameras demand critical exposure and white balance.  The highly acclaimed ExpoDisc lives up to its reputation every day.  Whether in the studio or on location we constantly set our white balance for accurate skin tones.  It is simple and consistent and creates the perfect files for the perfect portraits."

"The Expodisc White Balance Filter is one of the most valuable photographic tools I own. It has drastically cut my post processing time by allowing me to get the color I want in the shot. This tiny tool takes less space in my bags than the cards and other balancing gizmos I used to tote around, and it is simply easier and faster to use. For me, that makes it a winner."

"I have used ExpoDisc exclusively for several years now.  With everything else I need to worry about, I don't need to add the problem of correct color.  With the ExpoDisc, the color is always 'dead on' so all I need to concentrate on is focus, composition & exposure."

"I bought your ExpoDisc about 1 1/2 years ago & I'm completely satisfied. I no longer have to color correct any of my images when I use the ExpoDisc. I am currently printing all of my own work on an Epson 4000 printer. On occasion I send a few images to a processing lab & they are not applying any color corrections to my work at all. I have since told several other photographers about the expo disc & they have bought them... My colors look great in studio & out. Your company has helped me to get the best digital photos in my area. Thanks for the great product"

"I recently bought my ExpoDisc at Photo Expo in NYC. I admit, I was slightly dubious about what results I might get (I'd been using a specialized gray card for my White Balance), but thought, "What the heck. I'll give it a try."
I've now used the Expo Disc on three large catalog shoots and have been very pleased. In all but a few instances, ExpoDisc has delivered excellent, warm skin tones and has made post shoot processing much easier. (I shoot RAW and rarely have to change the white balance.) Previously, I found my skin tones tended to have a slight green cast when processed in Capture One software. Now, that's a rarity."

“I purchased the ExpoDisc last week and started using it as soon as it arrived in the mail. I just wanted to say that it was a great investment and it has cut my workload in half. I don't have to make color corrects on most of my images, and the ones that I need to make corrections on are very minor. It is quick and easy to use. It takes seconds to get the white balance reading. Thank you for this wonderful product.”

"I am the official photographer for the California Bluegrass Association, The Northern California Bluegrass Association, L and S productions and the Bluegrass Breakdown (California’s official source for Bluegrass Music information). I am also a Nature and Wildlife photographer and a high end digital camera tech/salesman…

My shooting situations are quite difficult because I am shooting musicians on stage using ambient stage lighting (usually low) tinted different colors. Normally, I use a gray card that I have to get a custom white balance, but because the tint of the stage lighting varies with each band, that sometimes is very difficult. Last weekend, the light was intensely red. I decided to use the ExpoDisc to do a custom white balance and was amazed at the accuracy it gave me. I was able to view some of the shots from other photographers at the festival that weekend for a comparison and everything I saw was saturated red. My shots were tinted slightly red but a lot closer to the real skin tones than anyone else’s shots using a gray cards. I am very happy with the results I got with the Expo Disc custom White Balance."

I have the best color I’ve ever had - easily!  I hate having to think about a white card and whether or not it’s REALLY white, or a gray card - or a combination thereof!  I now have used the disc with both Fuji and Canon cameras and it’s just too easy - like freedom!  Thanks!!”

"I received the "new" version of your ExpoDisc in the mail replacing the other version I recently bought.

I can't begin to tell you how much better my digital photos look after using the ExpoDisc. My pictures have looked better in the last three weeks than they have in the four years I have been shooting digital. Skin tones are spot on, especially when I shoot in shade most of the time.

I shoot Canon and Olympus cameras for wedding photography and color balance has been a hit and miss with both cameras. I photograph 40-45 weddings a year, while working full time and not having to color balance 500-600 photos each week is a godsend.

I tell everyone I can about your product and suggest they purchase one for their cameras. I just wanted to tell you how important the ExpoDisc has become and it goes right along with my flashmeter all the time."

–Mike Rushing-

“The ExpoDisc reduces making a custom white balance and making grey-frames to a simple routine. As such, it is an excellent front-end color management device, providing quality results and consistency of batch image colour. It can be recommended on this strength alone, while the location photographer will value its portability… ExpoDisc is an item that, in my opinion, you cannot do without.”

“This is just about the simplest and pain-free way to calibrate white balance in a digital camera. I found this to be a real time saver, especially in saving time in post-shoot processing.... whether you are a novice or experienced user, the ExpoDisc is worth owning.

In different environments, I tried setting the white balance indoors on a CANON D30, CANON D60, CANON D10 and a Nikon D1h. Compared to the White Balance settings which come in the camera, I found it gave a slightly better (to me anyway) white balance. These test scenes were lit mainly by incandescent lights. White objects in the scenes were cleaner and thus more neutral looking.

This beats carrying a grey card and easier than fine tuning the White Balance settings in a camera. Shoot one frame with the ExpoDisc and you are ready."

“I know that I've been quite happy with the ExpoDisc white balance results, but I had no idea how much difference an accurate white balance setting would make!!! None of the preset values resulted in color as true as that with the ExpoDisc.

The ExpoDisc is one of the best photographic accessories I've ever purchased. The images taken after using the ExpoDisc to set white balance have required very little correction in Photoshop.

The E-20 stores only one white balance setting taken in this mode, so it is necessary to repeat the procedure whenever lighting conditions change. It is so convenient to do this with the ExpoDisc that I just set the white balance each time, and just leave the camera in the "-0-" white balance mode."
–John Waers-

“You're just about right as far as the ExpoDisc cutting the workload WAY down! Since we started using it regularly, we've been able to nail the white balance consistently, and we're able to run a "click to print" operation. Now, every senior session we do is preceded by a white balance with the ExpoDisc. We have it down to creating a custom white balance - indoors or out - in the time it used to take to change a roll of film.”

"I've been involved in digital for years. Was a beta tester for the original Foveon with a Fuji Pictrography, the same for Epson 2000P. But I never brought digital into the daily workflow till this summer. The missing links were a viable printing solution (Gemini), a camera that could pry me loose from the Hasselblad after 35 years (Canon 10d), and a way to make them talk. The ExpoDisc honestly is the key ingredient in our workflow. The results became APPRECIABLY better and quicker since we incorporated it."

"We tested the ExpoDisc against a $800+ Minolta Color Meter!!! The EXPODISC WON!!! The images were EXACTLY the same with the color meter telling us the Kelvin number inside, but OUTSIDE the ExpoDisc gave us better color!! WAY BETTER!!!!! WOW!!! BETTER than perfect color!!!

I am so excited about this, for me, and my workflow, and my system.  This is like the sweetest thing!!! I HATE carrying a meter, I REFUSE to carry a gray card around, and now this EXPODISC, well, it's PERFECT!!!”
